Technology & Standards: Related LinksThe International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) provides an international forum to address issues which require international harmonization or standardization for the produce sectors and creates the first incorporated body constitued of national organizations providing direct representation of their respective countries' constituents. GS1 US is an organization dedicated to the adoption and implementation of standards-based, global supply chain solutions that are open, consensus-based, and universally endorsed. The GS1 DataBar (formerly RSS) Pilot Program for Produce includes North American retailers and suppliers who are focused on DataBar (RSS - Reduced Space Symbology) implementation in the produce industry. The DataBar bar code provides the ability to scan and capture manufacturer/brand identification at the point of sale on loose produce items which currently carry the PLU. EPC Global specializes in the development of industry-driven standards for the Electronic Product Code (EPC) Network to support the use of RFID Technology. Canadian Produce Marketing Association is a not-for-profit organization representing companies that are active in the marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables in Canada. |
